Why I want a daughter while I’m still young

it’s rather spontaneous (at least for me).
i can’t plan out what i’m going to create before i create it. i have to just start creating and see what i produce.
example 1: typography. i’ve recently started a typography project (click here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxEeNtB) where i take a quote and a picture of mine and put them together. when i begin, i never have an idea in mind of what the final project will look like. i just take a picture that is relevant and play around with it for an hour or two until i get an effect that i like. it’s a bit like rolling a dice until you get the number you want: terribly time-consuming. but i think, for now, it’s the only way that works.
example 2: songwriting. every now and then a random phrase will come to me, i will write it down and a whole page of lyrics will follow. i don’t sit down, say “this is what i’m going to write about” and start writing. i sit down and start writing.
i have no idea why i never have a plan before i start. but i’m currently satisfied with the results AND the process, so i’ll keep at it.
maybe you’re like me and you’ve stopped writing/taking photos/drawing/whatever because you feel like you don’t have any ideas. my advice: just sit down (or stand, lie down, whatever) and start creating. it may take a while to get a result you can be proud of, but creating is work. it’s not always easy and for some (most?) people a successful creation is not based on major breakthroughs but rather on major effort.
